A Brief History
BaZi has roots dating back over two thousand years to the Han Dynasty. It evolved from early Chinese calendrical systems and was formalized during the Tang and Song dynasties. The system is deeply connected to the Chinese calendar, the Five Elements theory, and Yin-Yang philosophy.
Zi Wei Dou Shu emerged later, with its earliest known texts appearing during the Song Dynasty. Legend attributes its creation to the Taoist immortal Chen Tuan. The system was historically reserved for the imperial court and was considered the "Emperor of Chinese Metaphysics" due to its complexity and precision.
